
I began photographing the motherland many years ago, some I used like a digital postcard to hold onto for whenever I returned to the diaspora. Others, like the ones you see below were shared from 2010 onwards publicly. Some of the places you see no longer exist, some have remained the same, and others are now unrecognisable.
As a proud Kurdish lens woman, when I travel around Kurdistan I enjoy capturing my people in moments of normality, these frames give me a sense of home-grown realism that keep me grounded.
